Facilitation of Strategic/Tactical Planning and Change Initiatives
Why
does your organization exist? By
what set of values will people be expected to make decisions with?
How does it plan on achieving its purpose?
How will customer needs become the driver of your organization’s
behavior? What is the competition
doing and how does your performance and your processes compare with theirs?
What emerging technologies or competitors are coming on in the future?
What are the implications for your strategy?
How will employees be engaged in and reinforced in the improvement
actions we need? How will all
employees be informed, made responsible, and be held accountable about what
their roles are?
Thoughtful
facilitation of the development of comprehensive answers to these questions
leads to the development of strategic and tactical plans for an organization
that increases the chance of doing the right things for success. It provides the
basis for insuring that future improvement activities launched within the
organization are improving the probability of doing the right things, right.
There is little value in improving the performance of an ineffective strategy -
it only makes the organization more efficient in doing the wrong things.
The
use of an unbiased facilitator is valuable to insure that an effective plan is
fully developed, to insure that constructive conflict arises, is dealt with, and
is resolved, and to insure that the position power or personality attributes of
any one given individual do not impede full group participation.
Facilitation of Problem Solving
Talk
to any tenured employee within an organization and they will be able to recount
chronic problems that occur year after year within the organization.
Successful resolution of these chronic issues is possible if the
organization deals with them in a manner differently than they have in the past.
Successful and permanent resolution of problems comes from a systematic
and sustained effort to define the problem, to define the process the problem
exists within, to identify the causes of the problem, and to implement solutions
or changes that negate the impact of the cause or actually eliminate the cause
itself. An unbiased skilled
facilitator can accentuate the resolution of problems by disciplining the group
to a systematic and sustained problem solving methodology.
Facilitation of Strategic Analysis and Planning
All employees innately have a need to understand what their organization's purpose and fundamental beliefs, values, and policies are so that they can behave appropriately. In addition, each employee also has a high degree of curiosity about what the organization envisions its future to be and how it intends to achieve that future. Strategic Analysis and Planning can help provide this kind of direction to all employees. MRC can facilitate this work with senior management and assist in "rolling out" or communicating the plan to the rest of the organizational member.
Facilitation of Other Meeting Formats
Other meeting formats such as conflict resolution sessions, organizational change announcements, process definition and redesign sessions, etc. can also be facilitated by MRC.
Whatever your objective, having an external unbiased facilitator may accentuate the effectiveness of your efforts.
